Grants available for Low Carbon Heating
Renewable Heat Incentive, Low Carbon Building Programme Grants, Manufacturers Grants
Low carbon heating solution such as Ground Source Heat Pumps, Air Source Heat Pumps, Solar Thermal, Biomass etc. are not only an environmentaly more friendly way to heat a building, delivers a building a more comfortable heat but ther can also be a sound financial argument for the installation. With current grants and the Renewable Heat Incentive scheme due in 2011 these solution can give you a substancial return on investment.
Renewable Heat Incentive:
The Renewable Heat Incentive is a fixed payment for the renewable heat you generate yourself.
The Renewable Heat Incentive is very similar to the Feed-in Tariffs . That's why the founders of Renewable Heat Incentive Limited were so active in the campaign to introduce them in the UK. It succeeded and in April 2011 the Renewable Heat Incentive will come into force. While the Renewable Heat Incentive is very similar to the Feed-In Tariffs, there are some important differences due to the fact that pretty much every single property in the UK generates its own heat from a gas or oil boiler. In other words, there is no ‘National Grid for Heat’ and so importing and exporting heat is not relevant.
How the RHI works
You install renewable heat systems such as air source heat pump, ground source heat pump, solar, biomass by an MCS Accredited Installer such as Natural Warmth Ltd
An estimate of the energy the system will produce is made by your MCS Accredited Installer
Based on the energy produced you will be paid a fixed fee for a fixed number of years.
Example:
House requires 35,000 khr/year
Produced by an Air Source Heat Pump that consumes 7,871 kwhr
You get paid 35,000khr x 7.6p = £ 2660.00
You pay out 7,871 kwhr x 12p = £ 944.52 (assuming 12p/kwhr to purchase electricty - this can go up and down)
Net benefit to you £ 1715.48/ year for 18 years
