Renewable Heat Incentive
News story
Renewable Heat Incentive
From April 2011, in order to encourage the use of renewable energies, the government is to pay users of heating systems using renewable energy a guaranteed amount for each kw/hour for all the energy generated by their system. A central government grant is also available at the moment to help towards the costs of the installation of this new technology.
At present, the subsidies are as follows :-
Air Source Heat Pumps payable at 7.6p per kw/hour for 18 years
Ground Source Heat Pumps payable at 7.1p per kw/hour for 23 years
Solar Thermal payable at 18p per kw/hour for 20 years
An estimate will be made as to how much heat your renewable energy system will produce, and users will be paid based on this figure.
In order to qualify for these rewards, the system must have been installed on or after 15th July 2009, and be installed by a MCS Accredited Installer like Natural Warmth.
